On Saturday 23rd March, nine teams arrived at MCM for the annual Prep Netball Straits Tournament. Our numbers rose to nearly 200 this year and it certainly made for a wonderful atmosphere.
Our Senior Prep Tournament was competitive but dominated by our extremely strong U13 and U12 teams. Both dominated their groups and won them convincingly which led to a great final. We had three other teams who competed well and improved throughout the afternoon. It was great to see such competitiveness in all of our teams. In the end we had a wonderful final with the U13 Tigers winning by a single goal.
In the Development Tournament we finished the group stages with an MCM team playing a visiting team in all matches for the final places which was very pleasing. The final was an excellent game with SK Nusa Perintis coming through as victors. It was a joy to see our U12 side lose their first few games yet improve so much throughout the morning and come back to win the Plate Cup.
Overall, a wonderful tournament and well done to our nine teams involved who were truly inspirational.
Pupils Straits Match Report (U13A)
On Saturday the 23rd March, Marlborough hosted the Prep School Netball Straits. The morning got off to a good start with the U13A team winning three games in a row! The first game was against SK Medini (7-2) we then played the MCM U13C team where we won 11-2, and then a tough match against SK Perentis. Everyone played extremely well and we all played with great sportsmanship. We worked really well as a team and our communication on the court was great. Then we played Tenby A in our fourth game. Towards the end of the game, we were down 0-1 and then there was an injury. Thankfully we got to play a nail-biting two more minutes of injury time. The final score against Tenby was 4-4 which gave us enough points to make it into the final. We went on to play in the final against MCM U12A and after a tense game, we won with a close score of 6-5! We had a fantastic day filled with brilliant netball. Thank you the parents for supporting us and thank you to Miss Smith for coaching us and helping us achieve this goal. It was a great way to end our final Prep School netball season.
