Johor International Schools Photography Competition

The final of the Johor International School Young Photographers Contest 2018 was held on Saturday, 17th November, at the Avira Show homes opposite Citrine Hub. There was an impressive exhibition of photographs on the theme of ‘Precious Family Moment’.  MCM did very well and 19 pupils had at least one photograph selected for the final exhibition which was jointly organised by Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O) and TEG Media.  They had interpreted the theme in many different ways with diverse images that captured families cooking, travelling, relaxing and spending time together in many places in the world.

Many of our young photographers were able to attend the event and really enjoyed the opportunity of seeing their photographs printed and displayed as part of a such a professional exhibition.  There were also wonderful refreshments and an opportunity to speak to professional photographers.  At the end of the event there was a prize-giving ceremony and we gathered to find out who had won the various categories and impressive cash prizes.  All visitors had the opportunity to vote for their favourite photograph on the day with stickers they were given as they entered.  Our very own Vadim Demesy won this category.  Congratulations are also due to Asyirah Kamal Hisham for winning the most voted online photograph; Arjun Krishnan for winning Second Place in the Junior Category; Amrit Fernando for winning Second Place in the Senior Category; and Paris Coulson who came First in the Senior Category with her incredible photograph of a family on a moped.

‘It was a monumental opportunity for some of us to see our photographs displayed at an exhibition for the first time’ Asyirah Kamal Hisham

‘We would like to thank Mrs. Gallagher, Mr. Prime and Mrs. Prime and Miss TV for coming with us to this event. It was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday Afternoon!’ Amrit Fernando
