On the evening of the 8th March an invited audience was treated to an exceptional display of acting talent as the IB Theatre classes from both the Upper and Lower Sixth performed their collaborative pieces of original theatre. All work produced had been created by the pupils themselves, focusing on the four key roles of creator, performer, designer and director.
Lower Sixth opened the evening with a physical piece entitled “Offline”, which had been partly inspired by the work of the theatre company, DV8. Their choreographed movement demonstrated an excellent understanding of theme and enabled all pupils to demonstrate a range of skills.
Upper Sixth closed the evening with “Today’s Tomorrow”, which delved into the era of President Trump, fake news and the lives affected by a wall between the US and Mexico. It was a fitting end to their time at MCM, with assured and moving performances from all involved. They concluded their piece with a thought-provoking talk back session with the audience and should be congratulated on all they achieved.
