On the evening of Sunday 10th of December the College community gathered in Wykeham Hall to celebrate the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, heralding the advent of Christmas with readings about the nativity and hearty congregational carol-singing.
The traditional format of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols presented the opportunity for both Senior and Prep School choristers and musicians to present a repertoire of festive music. Highlights included the Prep School choristers singing a four-part arrangement of “In The Bleak Mid-Winter,” and the Senior School Choir performing a stirring rendition of the traditional British carol, “Sir Christèmas.”
In collegial spirit, the service involved all sections of the College community, including prefects who welcomed the congregation, beaks who sang in support of the choirs and readers and soloists from both the Common Room and the pupil body. This was all framed by the beautifully decorated Wykeham Hall, adding greatly to the festive spirit.
