On Tuesday, 7 November, the Wykeham Hall hosted the first Prep School recital of the academic year. More than 90 performers, ranging from Year 4 to Year 8, celebrated the performing arts at MCM, with 21 performances of music, drama and dance.
Notable highlights of the evening included a rousing performance of the gospel standard Shackles; a classical performance of Vivaldi’s Spring from The Four Seasons on solo violin; and a solo performance of Alan Walker’s Faded on the launchpad. The twelve Year 3 & 4 singers who form the new Pre-Prep choir performed My Magic World, by Sheila Hilton Johnson; and the orchestra showcased two pieces of music by contemporary Japanese composers, Joe Hisaishi and Masashi Hamauzu.
As a form, 6MLG also delivered a Remembrance Day piece made up of poetry readings and physical theatre; and both junior boarding houses, Taylor and Iskandar, reprised their House Shout entries for this year, much to everyone’s delight.
These termly recitals are a great opportunity to showcase the variety of creative ability and passion existing in the Prep School.
