MCM Outreach Projects
This weekend saw 23 young people from MCM volunteer at St Christopher’s Church in JB. Our pupils supported the children of the parish to make felt tree ornaments. For some it was a steep learning curve, as using a needle and thread was new to them. However, the outcomes were very creative and the children were all really proud of their efforts. The MCM pupils conducted themselves with aplomb. They were sweet and gentle with the children, and really nurtured their confidence. It was a delight to see our pupils interact so authentically. They were a credit to themselves, the College and their families.
On Sunday, Outreach ventured to JARO, a rehabilitation centre in JB for the disabled. Students had prepared designs for 2 products that they hope to make during visits to the centre over the coming term. The pupils engaged in the project with enthusiasm. It was lovely to see them serving cake and coffee to the staff, before getting down to business in the textiles and book binding sections. We hope the MCM designs will be on the shelves at JARO’s retail outlet before Christmas and that our pupils’ contribution will boost the profits of this worthy organisation.
