This year’s theme of ‘East meets West’ gave parents a chance to show off a variety of amazing ensembles including kimonos, saris, cheongsams and even kilts at the ball held on Saturday 7th May.
The evening started under the stars with prosecco and canapés at the Harbour Front Bar and then, at the signal from Hamish’s trumpet, guests made their way to the ballroom at Hotel Jen. The entrance to the ballroom was through a beautiful avenue of cherry blossoms, the same flowers that graced the tables. The Master opened the Ball with a speech that managed to include a Scottish joke and this was followed by the drawing of the raffle which included prizes such as a Penny Black stamp, Intercontinental Hotel Group stay and a weekend at the Fairmont in Singapore. A film was shown of one of this year’s charities, the Rohingya Tampoi Refugee School, at which many parents volunteer. Finally, we were treated to a display of Bollywood dancing by Moshi Moshi Bollywood, before the dancing started in earnest!
It was a great night – many thanks to all who helped make it such a success.
