On Friday 20th May, we bid ‘Au Revoir’, or perhaps more appropriately ‘Jumpa Lagi’, to members of the Upper Sixth year group; the first leaving cohort from Marlborough College Malaysia.
The forty-one leavers have been at the top of the school for their entire time at the College. They were the first group to take IGCSE examination in 2014 and have recently completed their IB Diploma Programme. They will move on to tertiary education in the 2016/17 academic year, or following a gap year, and the diversity of university offers, with many of them from the World’s Top 100 Universities, means that they will cover the globe. University of Auckland, University of Melbourne, McGill University, New York University, University of Queensland and University of Toronto are some of the destinations, alongside some traditional UK institutions such as Bath, Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Imperial, King’s London, Manchester, Newcastle and St Andrew’s.
Our evening of celebration took place at Hotel Jen, Puteri Harbour with Upper Sixth leavers, their parents and members of Common Room. A delicious four-course meal was enjoyed by all, the courses being interspersed with speeches by Mr McVeigh and Ms Bridgman, the Senior Prefects of the academic year 2015/16 and the Master. Four members of the year group gave excellent musical performances before BPM, a College band, played until carriages.
It was a splendid occasion to complete the school careers of a wonderful group of young people. We wish them much happiness and success for the future and look forward to keeping in touch with them.
