The House Harmony and House Shout competitions took place just prior to the half-term break. We were fortunate to be joined for both events by Mrs Fiona Knight-Lucas who proved to be an excellent adjudicator.
The Harmony consisted of the six Senior Houses with the competition taking place during Senior School assembly. Thompson set the bar very high with an outstanding rendition of ‘Lean on Me/Isn’t She Lovely’ but, at the end of the cornucopia of musical delight, Munawir Hill emerged as deserved winners with their a cappella performance of The Weekend’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ which was received with acclaim by all present.
The evening’s House Shout had two competitions within it. Iskandar, giving a beautiful rendition of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’, won the Junior House competition and the girls were awarded the A# Cup. The Senior Girls’ House, Honan, performed ‘Cups’ (Pitch Perfect’s ‘When I’m Gone’) by Anna Kendrick with excellent vocals and mesmeric timing and emerged victorious, winning the Wyndham Cup.
Steel, the smallest of the Senior Houses, brought nostalgia to the senior members of the audience with their performance of the Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’. A wonderful occasion was then completed by the Common Room group who sang Coldplay’s ‘Clocks’.
Very well done to everyone involved for a fantastic evening’s entertainment.
