Marlborough College Malaysia gears up for University Admissions

This week Marlborough College Malaysia took significant steps towards helping our pupils access the world’s top universities. The College has been officially accredited as a UCAS Centre allowing MCM pupils to apply to universities in the UK. This means that our pupils will have application access to top universities in the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, York, Durham and more.

On the US front, the College has become a registered ACT Standardised Testing Centre. The ACT is an examination that replaces the SAT as part of the US University Admission Process. It is a qualification recognised by every US university and tends to suit international students who want to apply to American universities.

We intend to offer the ACT examination twice per year – in June of the Lower Sixth and September of the Upper Sixth. As we are a publicly registered centre, pupils will still need to register for this test online. Advice to those planning on applying to US universities will be given on how to register.

Mr Frank Hardee, the school’s University Guidance Counsellor, said of the news – ‘these two achievements are fantastic, especially the ACT accreditation. For many schools this process takes years to achieve but for us to be able to offer our pupils the option of sitting a US College entrance exam here at MCM without having to travel to an unfamiliar environment is very good news indeed’.

The first ACT exam will be sat by Lower Sixth pupils in June 2015 and the first UCAS Applications will begin to be sent off from September 2015, for a university start the following year.
