Yesterday the U13 netball team once again travelled to Kallang Netball Centre in Singapore, to play their final match of the group stage of the league against St Joseph’s Institute. The players and I (and indeed the parents) were nothing if not a little nervous, knowing how much the girls wanted to retain the title of being ‘unbeaten this season’. After losing the first centre pass yet quickly gaining the turnover and scoring an early goal, it became clear that once again the team were on top form. The girls played some absolutely beautiful netball, seamlessly passing the ball down the court with thoughtful skill. All nine girls took to the court and showed how hard they have worked this season, which meant that the final score ended as MCM 23 – SJI 0. A wonderful victory and our second clean sheet of the season. Go MCM!
I would just like to say that it has been an absolute pleasure to coach these girls. Every single one of them has grown as an individual which has formulated the strongest squad I have ever worked with, making the decision of which girl to play where a difficult one every single time I have had to make it. I would like to thank them for their hard work and commitment. You should all be extremely proud of what you have achieved. I would also like to thank the parents who have been so committed to supporting the team from our very first match. For all of the photos, the trips across the borders and the late Thursday night pick-ups, the girls and I are extremely grateful. I hope that the players and their parents now enjoy a well-deserved break.
