Looking smart in their house shirts, the children gathered in the Green Hall bubbling with anticipation and ready to compete in the annual Prep School House Shout which follows a Christmas theme.
Merlin, in festive green, kicked off the event with their rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. All the children looked fantastic, singing their hearts out and the Year 7 rap in the middle was a particular highlight!
Chichester, looking festive in their red T-shirts, followed with their version of We Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by Wizzard. As highlighted by the Master, they rewrote the lyrics to finish with a cheeky mention of Chichester which was fun.
Hunt came next, singing Merry Christmas Everybody, made famous by Slade. The performers were enthusiastic and did very well, especially as it, unintentionally, became an acapella performance. Despite this, they worked very well together, carried on without the music and sang loud and proud, with their mascot Snowy taking pride of place in the front row.
Finally, Seymour took to the stage singing Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms. The cute factor was in full force, with the help of a couple of Reception children who marched in time with their jingle bells, and they had the audience enraptured.
Of course, there can only be one winner and huge congratulations go to Seymour for topping the charts! All the children across the Prep School did a fantastic job of learning their lines which, no doubt, many parents feel they know as well as their children! A big thank you too to the Master and Mrs Pick for acting as judges; not an easy task, especially when faced with hundreds of innocent, smiling faces. We certainly didn’t envy them the task of choosing the ultimate winner. Well done again to all; a lovely festive way to end the term.
