Marlborough College Malaysia opened in 2012 and is a British day and boarding school for pupils aged 4-18 years. The College comprises a Nursery, Pre-Prep, Preparatory and Senior School and is situated on 90 acres in the Iskandar region of Malaysia, close to Singapore and Johor Bahru. There are six boarding Houses, (3 boys and 3 girls), 4 Senior (13-18yrs) and 2 Junior (10-12yrs).
The School is a genuine expansion of Marlborough College in the UK and is managed and governed by a number of people who have a strong association with Marlborough.
Job Title: Instrumental Music Teachers (Brass Trumpet specialist)
Reporting to: Director of Music

Introduction to the Role
Marlborough College Malaysia requires an Instrumental Music Teacher (Brass specialist) to work in its Music Department, assisting pupils in their development both in groups and on an individual basis. Using a range of interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, the individual will be required to utilise knowledge of learning strategies and values of the College to contribute to the progress made by students in their musical development.
Responsibility of the role:
- To provide high-quality Brass lessons to individuals and small groups of pupils.
- To monitor and record the progress of individual pupils and to feedback to parents and teachers as required.
- To assist with the preparation and performance of examination pieces and concerts, as required.
- To remain professional in manners and dress at all times, and to be aware of School policies.
Diploma or degree holder in specific musical field/area of specialism.
Ability to teach to diploma level.
Experience of teaching high-quality instrumental lessons.
High proficiency in both written and verbal English communication.
Ability to uphold the traditions and promote the ethos of Marlborough College Malaysia.
Hours of Work
The position is hourly paid (RM120/hour) and teaching takes place during term time only (30 weeks per year). It is essential that applicants are able to offer the commitment that the College requires to pupils, and be available for teaching between the hours of 7.30am to 6.00pm. As long as lessons are taught within these hours, the successful candidate may dictate when they work during any given week.
