It is always a joy to be able to showcase the work that musicians get up to in the Senior School. We are incredibly lucky to have such a diverse collection of talent, and the concert that was held on the evening of 13th November was a wonderful way to be able to share this with pupils, staff and parents. The eclectic repertoire which entertained us contained some familiar items such as ‘Never Enough’ and ‘May It Be’ from the films ‘The Greatest Showman’ and ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ respectively, to the less familiar ‘Improvisation pour Piano, no. 13’ by Poulenc and ‘Remote Xianggelia’, a piano piece by the Chinese composer, Zhang. It was also pleasing to be witness to a world premiere. Written by Aman Sidhu and Hafiz Nazhri, two-quarters of a band named ‘Moon Pool’, they performed an acoustic version of their song ‘We Follow’ as a warm-up for their performance at the Prefects social, two nights later. The College Orchestra rounded off the evening with a medley of music from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films, a fitting end to a fabulous evening of music and talent.
