We were treated to an outstanding evening of music on Tuesday 12th February. Two IB musicians from the Upper 6th performed music ranging from the lyrical melodies of Beethoven’s piano music, to the more experimental sounds of Bass Guitar music by Jaco Pastorius. The IB Diploma Music programme requires pupils to be informed performers, demonstrating not only the ability to choose a varied, balanced programme, but also to perform with confidence and flare. This was certainly the case as we were taken on a journey which was not only representative of two centuries of music, but also gave us an insight to a range of genres, and cultural influences. Furthermore, we were given performances of two arrangements created by the pupils themselves further demonstrating the all-roundedness that the IB musician develops throughout the two-year Diploma programme.
