On Tuesday 29th January the Lower Sixth Artists had the opportunity to visit the Singapore Tyler Print Institute for a gallery visit and printmaking workshop. It is a high profile print studio which provides facilities for professional artists from many fields. We were treated to a guided tour of the workshop, which features some of the largest etching presses in the world. We then visited the current exhibition in the gallery. There we saw a retrospective of the work of renowned artist Cheong Soo Pieng who is considered one of the fathers of Singapore Art. After lunch, we moved to the print studio for a drypoint workshop. Our talented young artists enjoyed the process and really impressed the workshop leader with the artwork they were able to produce in the time available. It was a full and busy day of Art which will feed directly into pupils’ IB portfolios and future artworks.
