An impressive exhibition of the 140 entries to our first Drawing Competition at MCM opened on Wednesday, 23rdJanuary, in the Morris Gallery. The outstanding drawings are from talented Year 6 to Upper Sixth pupils. The drawings are in a wide range of media and have been inspired by observation. We were delighted that so many parents, beaks, visitors and pupils came to view the work of our young artists and the exhibition continues until 1st February.
Judging took place before the opening and winning entries could be identified by stars. Those with silver stars are highly commended, whilst the 15 drawings with gold stars have been selected to go forward to represent MCM at the Walkabout Drawing Competition Final at the Red Sea Gallery in Dempsey Hill, Singapore, where they will be displayed alongside work from Tanglin, Dulwich and GESS. The judging panel will include a professor of drawing from Falmouth University and there are significant cash prizes. This exhibition will open on 14th
February and continue over the weekend.
This is an exciting initiative and it has been a joy to see so many superb drawings displayed together. We are confident that this will become an annual event.
