Marlborough College Malaysia’s Hundred, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth pupils were particularly fortunate to be visited by 54 universities and higher education institutions from nine different countries, at this year’s University Fair held on Wednesday 7th March. Indeed, pupils were able to ask questions and get key information from institutions from as far afield as the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Switzerland, and Spain, as well as those closer to home in Singapore and Malaysia.
The LRC and Library were transformed, thanks to Ms Justine Walker and her team, into an exhibition hall which offered MCM pupils exclusive access to some of the admissions representatives of the world’s top universities. The representatives from King’s College London; Melbourne and Sydney Universities; INTO USA and the Universities of Edinburgh, Leeds and Warwick were particularly busy.
Pupils also had the opportunity to attend six different workshops during the course of the afternoon, and I would very much like to thank all of those who presented. Dr Pawel Capik from the University of Keele in the UK, presented a session on Studying Business in the UK; Adelaide University, Australia, delivered a highly informative workshop on Study Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Health Programmes in Australia; INTO USA presented a very popular talk on Education in the USA and this was ably complemented by an excellent presentation by IDP Education on A General Overview of Education in Canada.
The workshop on How to write a UCAS Personal Statement, presented by Ms Francine Dawson from King’s College London, was extremely well attended and highly relevant to all our pupils intending to apply to UK universities. The last session of the day was delivered by the very dynamic and engaging Associate Professor Sven Alexander Schottmann from Griffith University, Australia, on The Advantages of Higher Education Study in Australia. Again, this was extremely well received by our keen pupils.
The day was a huge success and showed that MCM’s pupils are highly sought after by the world’s leading institutions. We are extremely grateful and indebted to the many contributors who helped to make the event such a valuable experience for our pupils as they research their post-18 options and make well-informed decisions about their future.
