The College community was treated to the second of the Senior School Music recitals of the Lent term on the evening of the 6th February. Twenty-two of the current Music GCSE pupils performed a programme of twenty-seven pieces to an audience which filled the LRC. The talent of the pupils was evident from the challenging repertoire that had been chosen by the pupils, ranging from the first movement of J.S. Bach’s Double ‘Cello Concerto in G minor, to the Flower Duet from Léo Delibes Lakmé. More modern repertoire included songs from the West End such as the title song from Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, ‘Love Never Dies’, and ‘If I Loved You’ from Rogers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. The Rock musicians also showed their outstanding talents with performances of ‘Handlebars’ by the Flobots, and ‘Can’t Stop’ by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
This was truly a night to remember, with everybody leaving the venue wanting more. Thanks must go to our wonderful team of peripatetic music teachers who coached and accompanied the pupils with phenomenal dedication and congratualtions must go to all of the performers who were all absolutely outstanding!
