IB Diploma Results 2016-17

For the Summer term leaving cohort of Upper Sixth pupils, Thursday 6th July has been a date etched in the mind for many months, knowing full well that this would be the day the IB Diploma Programme results were announced.

Inevitable anxieties were quickly replaced with congratulatory messages following the announcement that the College had achieved a 100% pass rate with an average points score of 35 points. Two pupils achieved a near perfect score of 44 points with a good number exceeding their original predictions. This is an excellent achievement from what is a non-selective academic cohort.

The Master of the College, Robert Pick, commented: “I am delighted that this cohort has achieved great success in the IB Diploma Programme and individuals have maximised their potential. The College average is five points above the world average. Congratulations are due to all the pupils, the beaks who have taught them and all those who have supported and sustained the pupils in their journey through Marlborough. Particular mention to Claire Bridgman who has championed the IB and has made an invaluable contribution over the two-year course. Many of our pupils will head directly into tertiary education, taking places at leading universities around the world (Auckland, Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Hong Kong, Imperial, King’s, NUS/Yale, Oxford, Queensland, Southampton, Syracuse, Toronto, UCL and Washington to name a few).

“They leave the College carrying the Marlborough values with them; values which will help them through the challenges and opportunities that they will face on their journey ahead. We look forward to watching their progress and wish them all success and happiness.”
