On Friday 3rd March the Annual Careers Fair took place at the College in its now well-established ‘speed-dating’ format. Pupils were treated to an opening keynote address by a local Johorean, Mr Syed Saddiq, who is an Asian debating champion and youth advocate. Pupils were able to relate to his experiences and he encouraged everyone to find their niche, get involved in the community around them and give something back to society. This is also Marlborough’s ethos, which is promoted throughout the school.
Following the address, pupils split into one of three careers circuits to hear from 7 professionals. They had roughly 10 minutes with each one before moving on. At the end of all 7 presentations pupils were free to return and ask more in-depth questions about the careers they liked the sound of. This year we had volunteers in many of the traditional areas such as banking, architecture, design and medicine but also some new areas such as games development and life coaching. We wish to extend a big thank you to all the volunteers for giving up their time to help with this important fixture in the careers guidance calendar, as well as to Marketing and Events who helped to make the event run so smoothly.
