This term’s Music Recital took place under sunny skies as pupils, parents and beaks gathered at the Drama Hall Courtyard for an afternoon of choral music, violin duets, drum and bass rhythms and more. The Melbourne Tour Choir, back from the Music Tour over the half term holiday, opened the first half of the recital with three numbers with Mr Monk on piano accompaniment. Upper Prep soloists made up the majority of the Recital repertoire, and highlights included the jazz standard, Autumn Leaves on the saxophone, a technically brilliant performance of Lane Boy by Twenty One Pilots on the drum kit, and a rendition of One Call Away, exuding some very confident singer-songwriter vibes.
The Prep School Orchestra also performed two pieces after the interval, setting the scene for the remainder of the second half, before the Tour Choir finished the event with a good old British classic, Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra. This Recital is part of a series of events that make up a very busy Michaelmas term calendar for the Prep School Music Department – the next event we are due to perform at will be the FoMCM Christmas Fair on Sunday 20th November, where our choristers will be carolling to instil a little tropical Christmas spirit!
