Straits Swimming Gala 2016

On Saturday 17th September we hosted our first Swimming meet of the year with the Australian International School, Singapore and Educity Swimming Club, Iskandar Puteri, joining us for a full day of both long and short course events.

Our swimmers embraced the challenge of the 400m and 200m races, and pushed themselves to their limits. Educity swimmer Wei Jie Ng secured the best time in the 400m Freestyle event with an impressive 4.33.75. In the short course events a special mention must go to Jude Wong from MCM who completed his 50m Butterfly in 0.27.48.

Our final event of the day was the senior mixed freestyle relay. This relay was made up of four female and four male swimmers who completed one length each. Even with a photo finish and timer, we could not distinguish a clear winner between AIS and Educity who both finished the race in 4.02.53.

The Educity swimmers were the overall event winners and their coach was presented with the Straits Swimming Shield by the Master. Congratulations to all the competitors and coaches and many thanks to the spectators for their support. It was a fabulous event to start the year and we look forward to competing against these teams again in the near future.
