The final of the Piano Soloists Competition took place on Friday 29th April. Six of the College’s pianists played pieces which even the judge, Dr Christine Tan – a lecturer at the Institute of Music at UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur – labelled as extremely challenging. The talent displayed was outstanding, and the competition extremely tight. Zachary See, one of the College prefects in the Lower Sixth was the eventual winner playing Chopin’s Étude Op 10, no 1. The other competitors should all be commended: Dayini Kamarul Baharin, Annabel Chessher, Ji Hoon Lee, Cha Yeong Lee, Nicholas Goh for the formidable talent that each of them displayed.
