Lent Term Beagle Hash
After a jam-packed week at school, a group of enthusiastic boarders gathered together to take part in the ‘Beagle Hash’; a mixture of a traditional Marlborough College event and a cross-country run which has its roots in Kuala Lumpur. We walked to the beautiful local jungle from the school gates. From the starting point, we began running through the jungle looking out for the ‘Beagle’ signs to find our way round the route, with everyone shouting ‘ON ON!’ to help guide each other through. In total everyone ran/jogged/walked 7 kilometres – a stellar performance from all the pupils who showed determination and perseverance throughout the event.
Thankfully, the Marlborough College Malaysia catering staff were at the finish line, waiting with a delicious meal of chicken curry, chocolate cake and refreshing watermelon. Bryan Loo, one of our Upper Sixth pupils commented, “It was a great experience running through the jungle and seeing some interesting wildlife, and it was good to challenge myself physically, and to receive support and motivation from my fellow Beagle Hashers.” It was wonderful to see our pupils cheer each other on, keep each other motivated when they felt they couldn’t run anymore, and for them to work as a team to help each other find the best route to the finish line.
A great event, much enjoyed by all.
