CSIS League Cross-Country Finals
Having spent months of early mornings dragging weary limbs out and round the athletics track, hours upon end sprinting up and down hills and seemingly days running circles round the school circuit, the morning finally dawned of the ACSIS Cross-Country Finals. The hours of training were finally to be put to the test at Bedok Reservoir, Singapore.
On a day of enormous scale, Marlborough had teams in the U8 – U12, U14, U16 and U19 categories.
Each age category completed different distances with the U8s and U9s running 2km, the U10s and U11s running 2.5km, the U12s and U14s running 3.2km and the U16 and U19 squads running 5km.
Throughout all the different age group events, the pupils ran magnificently. Special mention goes to William Ackerley 8EH who secured 4th place in the U14 Boys, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal. He faced difficult competition from older boys in his division.
Other worthy mentions go to Alex Cadell 6SB and Sophia Webber 6MM who both came 9th in their respective groups. Despite being recently unwell, Anya Dalglish secured 14th place in the U9 Girls, and Nicholas Groenewegen 3HM achieved 18th in the U9 Boys. Well done to Freddie Patten, who achieved 14th place in the U12 Boys category.
In the High School division, Felix McAuliffe achieved 9th in the U19 Boys. Both the boys’ and girls’ U19 teams secured 4th place overall.
Overall, a huge well done to all the runners; we are so proud of each and every one of you. Congratulations!
