U14 ACSIS Touch
Following a very stormy afternoon at the Marlborough campus, there were doubts as to whether the U14 touch team would be given the chance to debut at their first ever fixture. After just one week of training and an intense recap of the rules, the team set off nervously towards OFS for the opening round of ACSIS Division 2.
Having arrived at the venue early, the team made good use of the time and crammed in some final practice before their game against Chatsworth.
The opposition was quick off the mark and scored a couple of early tries. MCM fought hard in defense and made some fantastic touches but the speed of the experienced Chatsworth players prevailed and the score line increased. MCM were certainly not defeated and came back with a daring try on the outside wing from Annabel Chessher, who scored her second try near the end of the game. Excellent performances by Rachel Goh and Jennifer Ang ensured that we continued to press forward and limit any opportunities Chatsworth may have had.
The team played with tremendous spirit and deserve huge credit for their determination. I know that it was a steep learning curve and they handled the pressure admirably.
