On 30th October, five dedicated senior runners sacrificed the last day of their half term break to attend the ACSIS U19 Cross-Country Championships at Pasir Ris, Singapore. The 5km race for both boys and girls was gruelling in the heat and humidity. Runners from the eleven competing schools were clearly pushed to their limit, which was confirmed by nine runners being unable to complete the race due to sheer exhaustion.
However, the entire Marlborough squad were doggedly determined and made it across the finish line in respectable fashion. Each of the boys finished with a time that was sub-25 minutes and Emika Goble achieved a time of 28 minutes for the U19 girls, which is certainly something to be proud of. Special mention must also go to Anyalemme Igwe, who gained a 12th place finish and clocked an impressive time of 19:53 minutes.
Congratulations to all of the MCM senior runners who took part and represented the school with such zeal and commitment. The team atmosphere was fantastic and it was quite moving to see them support each other so loyally amidst the field of 123 runners.
Senior team runners: Anyalemme Igwe, Rory Tan, Adam Wright, Felix McAuliffe and Emika Goble.
