U13 Girls' Football Triumph in Thailand

On 7th November forty very excited MCM footballers set their alarm clocks unusually early, in order to catch a plane to Thailand for a huge annual football tournament, hosted by British International School of Phuket.

We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and everyone settled into their rooms, before cooling off in the swimming pool and playing games on the beach. There was even a baby elephant for entertainment! The students could not relax for long though, since the tournament kicked-off early on Friday morning – with 1200 players involved, there were plenty of games to get through!

The two-day tournament was intense and all MCM teams faced difficult opposition in the pool stages. The final standings from day one would determine where teams were to place on day two and the U13 girls did exceptionally well to go through to the semi-finals.

They hustled hard and supported each other every step of the way, demonstrating great sportsmanship, determination and teamwork. This was clearly a recipe for success, since the team made it to the finals and put in an incredible performance to win the entire competition!

There were many outstanding performances within the team but Jenna Erwig must receive recognition for her unrivalled skills and knowledge of the game. She played inspirational football over the course of the two days and also motivated and enthused the team through her role as captain.

Below is a match report written by Jenna, describing their path to victory…
